Five Things That Make a Big Difference on Your Wedding Day
As a wedding photographer, I’ve stood behind the lens on some of the most meaningful days of people’s lives. I’ve watched tears fall during quiet first looks, witnessed joyful chaos as flower girls twirled in circles, and captured the way a groom’s hands trembled slightly as he held his bride for the first time.
Your wedding is more than a timeline — it’s a story unfolding.
And the best photos? They come from moments that are felt, not forced.
Here are 5 tips I share with every couple to help their wedding day feel calmer, more connected, and full of real, beautiful memories.
⸻
1. Leave Room to Breathe
Give yourself space in the schedule. Pad your timeline with buffer moments — 10 extra minutes here and there makes a world of difference. You’ll never regret having a quiet moment to sip champagne, hug your dad without rushing, or take a breath before walking down the aisle.
Photographer Tip: When you’re relaxed, your photos reflect it. Your face softens, your shoulders drop — and we get the kind of images that feel like you.

2. Gather the Details Ahead of Time
Want those beautiful flat-lay shots of your rings, invitations, and heirlooms? Place everything in a small box or bag the night before (rings, shoes, vow books, perfume, handwritten notes). Bonus if your florist delivers blooms early — I’ll use them to add a little floral magic!
These small things tell the story of your day in a quiet, beautiful way.
⸻
3. First Look? Do What Feels Right
First looks aren’t for everyone — and that’s okay. But if you’re considering one, know this: it’s often the only moment you get completely to yourselves. No distractions, no guests, just you two… taking it allin together before everything begins.
It calms nerves, makes the day flow more smoothly, and gives us more time for portraits while the light is soft and golden.
I’ve photographed couples who laughed, cried, prayed, or just held each other — and those moments are always unforgettable.
⸻
4. Let the Imperfect Be Beautiful
No matter how much you plan, something might go off-script. That doesn’t mean anything went wrong — it means it’s real.
So the wind kicks up. The rain pops out of no where. The flower girl decides not to walk. A groomsman forgets his shoes. Spekaing from personal experience, my wedding ceremony left everyone in the wedding party and guests soaked head to toe, but it was the BEST day! Everyone that was there will tell you that the rain didn't ruin the day; it was the best wedding they have ever been to. Trust me: those aren’t distractions or hiccups — they’re memories.
The best images often come from the moments you didn’t plan — and I’ll be right there for every one of them.
⸻
5. Be Present — This Day Is Yours
Everything will go by faster than you think. One minute you’re getting ready, the next you’re dancing under the stars. So take it in. Look around. Pause when you can. Hold your person’s hand and soak it all up.
Because your photos will mean so much more when they’re attached to a memory you were fully in. And years from now, I hope you look at those photos and say, “I remember exactly how that felt.”
⸻
From Behind the Lens
At the end of the day, your wedding isn’t just about a perfect pose or a flawless schedule — it’s about connection, emotion, and real-life beauty. That’s what I’m here to capture.
If you’re planning your wedding and looking for someone who sees more than just a photo — let’s talk.
Always cheering you on!
